August 1, 2016, West Palm Beach, FL – On September 23, 2016, the Hispanic Leadership Awards Luncheon will recognize individuals who have made a difference in the lives of Hispanic students in South Florida through education. The event is organized by the Hispanic Education Coalition of Palm Beach County (HEC) in partnership with the José Martí Foundation.

The Hispanic Education Coalition of Palm Beach County (HEC) is a non-profit organization established to promote educational equity in the Palm Beach County School District. HEC supports initiatives that provide educational access to all students regardless of race, ethnicity or immigration status; reduce the drop-out rate among Hispanic students; provide equitable employment opportunities for Hispanic teachers and administrators; and advance multicultural studies in the School District curriculum.

“We envision a community of empowered Hispanic leaders who impact policy and achieve equality through education,” says Joaquin Garcia, HEC Founder and Chairman of the Board. “We believe in cultivating tomorrow’s leaders in school at an early age, while also mentoring today’s leaders through educational initiatives.”

The José Martí Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities to students of Hispanic descent. Through fundraising events, the José Martí Foundation raises funds to award scholarships on a yearly basis.
